Effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge and practice regarding menstrual hygiene and sanitary napkin among adolescent girls who attained menarche at selected area in Madurai

The current trend of antenatal care starts from puberty. This concept was emphasized by kumara (2014) who conducted a study among girls regarding menstrual hygiene revealed that only few were using sanitary napkin and many did not practice the same. Menstrual involves personal measures to be adopted women adolescent girls. It includes use clean material absorb all collected blood these materials can changed in privacy as after necessary for duration menstruation. Descriptive survey approach used this study. And attained menarche Masthanpatti village.30 samples selected convenient sampling fulfill inclusion criteria. Findings analysis majority 60% respondents between age group 16-17 yrs.63% them having inadequate knowledge napkins.47% practicing inadequately. After structured teaching programme, & improved. Recommendations made based on findings nurses other health professionals should teach napkin.
